On Sunday November 16th 29 players journeyed to Bright Country Golf Club to contest this year’s championship.
With the course presented in great condition the results would prove what a great course we were playing on, however the weather gods were against us from early in the morning.
With the wind blowing at gale force at times it made for some really interesting golf.
And so, after a tight battle over a very breezy 18 holes, Peter Miller (Wodonga), Andrew Shearer (Benalla) and Darren Edwards (Beechworth) were tied on 78 gross.
And so we moved into a thrilling sudden death playoff, same as last year. The first hole was shared in bogeys for all three players. The second hole also had its thrills, with Andrew and Darren making their pars, and Peters attempt unfortunately lipping out. Then we moved to par three sixteenth hole with Darren just short and Andrew on the front edge, Darren's approach was a bit long and he chipped back to around five feet. Andrew then proceeded to three putt and Darren's attempt lipped out leaving Andrew Shearer as our district champion for 2025.
