Results - 4BBB Men's and Women's Championships at Bright

10 Oct 2023 by Jac.Surman

Sunday October 8th dawned as a spectacular day with the promises of some great golf at the excellently presented Bright Golf Club.

We were not to be disappointed, as the course superintendent had performed miracles following the extremely heavy rain that had fallen earlier in the week.

The results also proved what a great course we were playing on.
In the Women’s event the scratch competition came down to a second countback, with Judy Langford and Jackie Surman emerging the winners with 28 points on a countback from Leanne Carmody and Kellie Roberts.

The handicap event was taken out by Charlotte Paton and Anita Furnell with a mammoth 47 points, from Carol Burgess and Frances Bentley with another great score of 46 points, with both teams representing Bright.

In the Men’s event the scratch the winners were Ethan Bell and Peter Miller with excellent score of 40 points (4 under the card) from runners-up Vaughan Saunders and Darren Edwards with 39 points (3 under the card). This was fantastic golf from both teams.

In the handicap section the winners were Bernard Neville and Mark Frost from Bright also with a mammoth 47 points form the Jubilee pair of Matthew Nunn and Mark Drage with 43 points.

The ball rundown went 41 points on a C/B for the men and 42 points on a C/B for the women.

The NTP’s for the women were 3rd – Bernie Wicks, 6th – Carol Burgess, 11th – Anita Furnell and 16th – Allison Gilbert.

For the men the NTP’s were 3rd – Shane Andrewartha, 6th – Michael Cordier, 11th – Ken Garner and 16th – Jason Dodd.

I would like to thank the Bright Golf Club for hosting the event and the ladies for providing an excellent lunch. To Tina Cook and Allison Gilbert thank you for your efforts with the cards both before and after the game. To Jackie Surman and Dylan Pool for your efforts and input as they are always appreciated.

Above all, thank you to the participants as your attendance ensures the continuation of the event.
